We know that spring has definitely sprung in Virginia Beach and other areas of the country by now! It’s an exciting time full of growth, renewed energy, and joy, but this also means plants are waking up, blooming, and spreading their pollen.

Which ALSO means that it’s one more thing for our bodies to deal with as we encounter “the sniffles” and other types of respiratory discomfort.

Have you ever wanted to know some tips and tricks to help you during this difficult time? Here are some things I’ve learned over the years of being in various wellness circles!

Why use essential oils to help the respiratory system?

Essential oils support the respiratory system by:

  1. Clearing airways and loosening mucus

  2. Reducing inflammation in the respiratory system

  3. Fighting respiratory infections

  4. Providing soothing and calming effects

  5. Cleaning and purifying the air in an indoor environment


What is an essential oil rollerball . . . exactly?

Want to know some easy ways to start? You can diffuse these suggestions, or create a rollerball blend. An essential oil roller bottle is a portable container with a rollerball applicator used to apply diluted essential oil blends onto the skin. It offers convenience and control for the application for aromatherapy, topical use, or personal fragrance.

Great Rollerball Recipes for Sniffle Season:

  • LLP Roller +/- DiGize, Copaiba

    This is when it comes to springtime (or anytime!!) sinus survival. The base recipe is Lavender, Lemon, and Peppermint. Start there and add any other oils listed as desired to suit your specific needs!

    • 10mL roller bottle

    • 10-20 drops each of Lavender, Lemon, Peppermint

    • Other great oils to add: Copaiba, Dorado, Azul, Ledum, DiGize, R.C., Raven

    • Roll over the chest, under the nose, and over the sinus cavities as desired. Take care when using near the eyes and dilute more if desired. If you get it too close to your eyes, simply apply coconut oil over the area.

  • Happy Noses Roller:

    Roll over the sinus cavities as desired. Take care when using near the eyes and dilute more if desired. If you get it too close to your eyes, simply apply coconut oil over the area.

    • 10mL roller bottle

    • 20 drops each of Dorado Azul & Idaho Blue Spruce

    • 10 drops DiGize & R.C.

    • 5 drops Peppermint

      BONUS: Lymphatic Drainage Massage Techniques. Check out this video on YouTube regarding good ways to open up drainage pathways. Talk to your physician for contraindications prior to this massage.

Other Wellness Tips

Lavender Copaiba Nasal Rinse

Grab your Neti-pot and whip up your own oil-infused sinus rinse. If you are new to using essential oils or a sinus rinse, decrease the number of essential oil drops by half. You can always add more as desired.

  • 10 drops of Lavender essential oil

  • 15 drops of Copaiba essential oil,

  • 8 Tbsp of ultra-fine salt (unprocessed, no iodine).

    Use morning and afternoon during acute needs and use once daily for maintenance during peak season.


DIY Season’s Change Capsules:

Use a 2 oz glass dropper bottle - 30 drops each. Drop mixture into veggie capsules and take like a capsule.

  • Lavender, Lemon, Peppermint, + Copaiba Vitality

    • *( Vitality Oils are labeled GRAS - Generally Recognized as Safe for internal usage).

  • Olive oil to the desired dilution (about 2 Tbs)

Changing Seasons Oral Spray:

  • 10mL glass spray bottle

  • 1 drop each Lavender*, Copaiba*, Peppermint*

  • 2 drops Orange* & Lemon*

  • "Splash" Thieves Mouthwash - Optional

  • + Filtered water

  • *Vitality oils labeled for ingestion

Add all ingredients into a spray bottle and shake well. Spritz into your mouth daily or as desired.


What Supplements might help my body during Sniffle Season?

Allerzyme Capsules
