This Handwriting and Fine Motor Summer Camp will focus on the underlying skills your child needs to develop for writing such as hand strengthening, pencil grasp, fine motor skills as well as writing skills, copying skills, letter formation and legibility. The Handwriting without Tears Curriculum will be used. This camp will be led by an Occupational Therapist. Each day your child will take home some fine motor “tools” they can use at home to continue working on their hand strength, fine motor skills and handwriting!

Lunch Bunch** 11:45-12:30 (Additional Fee)

Bring a Bagged lunch and work on social skills and conversational skills with peers while being supervised/facilitated by a therapist.

 

Does Your Child HATE TO WRITE?

  • Does your child have MESSY writing?

  • Does your child take very long to complete written work?

  • Does your child complain of his or hand hurting with writing?

If so, then your child may benefit from our Handwriting and Fine Motor Camp!  We will be working on strengthening your child’s pencil grasp and hand strength as well as writing skills, copying skills, letter formation and legibility. We will be using the Handwriting without Tears Curriculum (Book and other supplies included with group fee).  This program will be taught by an Occupational Therapist to establish/strengthen handwriting skills. This class is ideal for students who have: 

  • Difficulty holding the Pencil

  • Poor pencil grasp

  • Poor Letter formation

  • Poor writing Legibility

  • Poor Writing endurance

  • Poor Fine motor skills

  • Difficulty putting thoughts onto paper

  • Slow writing skills

  • Difficulty with copying skills

The age for this camp is Kindergarten through 2nd grade. Your child must be screened prior to attending the camp (or be a current patient) to ensure appropriateness for the group.

This Camp will be held at the Virginia Beach-Haygood location.
